Countertop - new countertops with formica laminate
I purchased new countertops with formica laminate. Total cost was $3100.00 dollars and this included a fee for material haul away at $510.00 dollars. Installer came out said countertop fabrication would have to be done on site due to columns at kitchen bar top. The day of the installation installers said it would be too difficult to remove existing countertops and said they could simply put down new sheet formica laminate. I agreed but questioned the cost difference if any. I was told I had to take that up with Home Depot. The new sheet laminate was put down on the old countertops. The job took all of one day part of the next. The end result was that I did not get new countertop bases and there was minimal haul away of material. I priced sheet laminate and the cost for amount I needed was about $250.00 dollars. So I paid $2800.00 dollars to have formica laminate glued onto existing countertops. When I went to Home Depot seeking only return of the haul away fee they claimed that the installation they did was "CUSTOM" and therefore cost more. To add injury to insult they did initially refund me the $510.00 dollars to my Home Depot card but then turned right around and claimed the increased cost for custom installation came to exactly $510.00 dollars. I let the assistant idiot at Home Depot know exactly how I felt and asked for a pair of scissors. I cut up My Home Depot card right there in the store in Peachtree City, Ga. A complete ripoff and underhanded way to have handled this by Home Depot. My advice do not let Home Depot do any installation
